A green and sustainable university

Since 2008, the University of Copenhagen has been working towards reducing the energy consumption and implementing sustainable solutions.

Ambitious targets

The University’s target is to become one of the world's greenest universities, leaving as little environmental and climate footprint as possible. Relative to 2008, CO2 emissions are to be reduced by 65% and energy consumption by 50% in 2020. And we are well on the way.

Sustainability culture

The University wants to be a living laboratory for the development of tomorrow’s sustainability solutions. In addition, the University will create a sustainability culture where staff and students encounter and practice sustainable behaviour in everyday life. Sustainability and resource efficiency should be integrated effectively and meaningfully in the organisation and management of the University.
